FIA-GT race car

Check out the new Nissan Race car based on the R35 GT-R for FIA GT1 You can definatly see alot of changes. Plexy glass windows, huge wing, body kit and hood. air ducting, wheels and rims. Who knows whats underneath that body tho. Auto Sport magazine says it sounds like a v8, so im guessing this is rear wheel drive.
They describe that this is the FIA-GT GT1 specification GT-R, and its the next step in world domination.
This was spoted at Fuji Speedway for a shakedown.
The specs will either be
/ NISSAN GT-R R35 LM /
542 hp
3417 lbs
448 ft/lb
10 units per month for total of 300 units
costs: 18,000,000
/ Le Mans specifications /
592 hp
2976 lbs
506 ft/lb
Le Mans Race teams only
costs: 65,000,000 yen
Latest i heard was the new 2010 GT1 classes get to choose 650bhp/1300kg or 600bhp/1250kg Which is differnt than the specs i listed above. So again more rummors coliding and not making perfect sense. but im just trying to list the little info we have. This would suggest the car definatly is a V8 NA. Sean Morris would suggest its RWD and i would have to agree with him 100% givin that its using a V8 and the limits of the R35 in its stock form wouldnt agree with that and by replacing the VR38 and the GR6 will probably free up some weight by replacing them with a normal manual and a v8 thats optimized for racing and weight (also notice the hood of this GT1 racer, its definatly simular to the GT500 which also uses the v8).
Thanks for MC of nagtroc for enlarging the two images he found.

your spot on with your post sean. this is most likly going to be rear wheel drive but i dont have any of those details yet. This could very well be a monoque carbon chassis with custom innards, but well find out soon.

This car looks like its unibody. I see most of the production aspects there. I say its rear wheel drive GT2 car. It has to be pretty fast to be a GT2 car.
I know all about four wheel drive in road racing. Most of the things you read about GT-R’s road racing, were probably originated by me, when I was at Motorex.

If this car is to be a GT1 car in Ratel’s proposed new FIA GT regulations for 2010, it’d have to have a displacement greater than 5.5L, so an iteration of the 5.6L V8 would be likely. It will also surely have a fully sequential manual gearbox.
And put all speculation to rest as to where the drive comes from. It’s RWD. International sports car racing does not, and I have no reason to believe it will allow RWD, so expect RWD.
And should a RWD, V8 GT-R race car be built, a road going, production version MUST be built.
And while we don’t know the details of the 2010 aero regulations, from looking at these pictures, I’d have to conclude it’s a GT2 and not a GT1. GT1 allows much more in the way or aerodynamic modification and this car doesn’t appear to be too wildly changed from stock.

you make alot of sense. The press from autosport and blogs are now all saying its GT1. its very possible its GT2. I dont have all the details as nissan hasnt released them, and you know to take all this with a grain of salt until nissan releases information officialy.

It’s now been confirmed to me by people in the know that this car will definitely be a GT1 and not a GT2.

I’ve never been a HUGE fan of the GT-R, but I’d love to see this car race. Wish it’d race in the ALMS/Le Mans, but it won’t.

if they run is very risky .if they win the gtr is fabulous.if not and they dont finish the race in 3tr position or second, the porche want that hapens.
the chauvinist jornalist they loved that the gtr dont finish the race ,and goes tho porche bed.
remenber the fabulus r390gt1??they run in 1997 ,is very fast.but they have big problems it the gearbox but in 1998 they fix this problem but the car is more slow they finish in 3 and 4 5,6 position.inl lemans the car must have resistence if possible performance the audi is the perfrect example.
i thinht that i have total reson ,on my opinion.

Hi everyone,
My name is Freddy and I’ve wasted nearly a month of my life on this place
I found it after being recommended by a few friends who have been hanging out here for quite some time.
I am a writer, graphics artist, photographer and just about anything else that comes up around the office. Aside from the above interests i’m really into scifi as I know that is so much more out there to be discovered, and a feeling that the universe is just teaming with life.
Well, I hope that I get to know more people here, share some experience and start learning. Have a greay day!
