Switzer Performance Innovation Turbo Upgrade Development

Custom pluming, TiAL Bov’s, Custom Switzer IC’s, and Custom GT28 Turbo upgrades and larger injectors custom made.

The goal is to have a 700 Engine HP setup (not 700 WHP), that can be used for daily driving. Though Switzer will probably test the car and the parts limit, but 700 WHP is not a priority. At the moment, This setup is making 626 WHP and the car is running very healthy. All temps are low. Radiator and the IC cores are doing an amazing job, but we will know more once the car is tested at a track.

Also car recently made 626 WHP at 16-18 Psi (18 psi max but it backs out) while running very rich (this was done intentionally just to be safe). A lot more tuning is to be done, but the injectors we have, 780cc, are already close to maxing out, so we’re gonna be installing 900 or 1200 cc inectors soon.

HKS Parts update for 2009

3681

HKS have some new parts comming out this month and next. First is the HKS Premium Suction Pipe Kit.  The Inner diameter of the HKS cast aluminum pipes has increased for less restriction of air flow by 12% freeing up the bottle neck at high boost. Great for those of you with Cobb and GT570 kits. This kit reuses the stock blow-by pipes and reduces heat issues. Since the R35 stock airbox is sofar proven the best design for air flow, its being kept in the design. These will be offered around $1200 give or take. They will likly arrive to the us market in about two months give or take, i dont have any official ETA.

70018-AN006.xls

Next is very exciting (except for the price) news. HKS is making a legal GT570 kit for the street. it already has the parts available but is now making a kit utilizing all the parts as one.  Utilizing the HKS Metal Catalyzer kit offered back in november of last year to Japan only, the new HKS GT570 Sport kit is now going to be street legal. offering 570ps just like the gt570 racing kit, but the power curve will be slightly lower.

 14033am002_graph

The Same blow off valves, actuators, Boost Controler, and Intercooler piping are being used from the GT570 kit, but the sport package adds the HKS metal Catalizer kit to it for a total cost of 913,500 Yen, thats approxamtly 9831.00 USD. But if its worth it to you to keep your car street legal and high performance, this is the kit for you! also note that 570ps is the minimum performance these kits put out. More boost will net more performance but be carefull as it could be less safe.

Results of the SoCal GT-R Dyno Day @ HyperPower

As many of you have heard especially from the Motor Trend article, HyperPower International has a dyno that actually determains real drivetrain losses. Over last weekend they had a free dyno days, any proceeds made went to buy school supplies for the local school :D

Sorry this is a copy paste post, I dont have much time these days, anyone want to help out?

So last Saturday we all gathered at Hyper Power Dyno. There were 5 GTR’s, 1 Evo X and 2 E55 AMG’s. It was around 10:30 am at about 75 degrees if I remember correctly. First up was Greg S. black GTR. We got it up on the dyno rack, tied down in less than about 5 min. After the first run to test to calibrate the dyno, Gpgtr began doing the pulls. He did 4 pulls and determined that the car seemed to be running very rich ! This could of been due to the fact that the air filter could of been dirty? Hopefully Greg S will see this post and put up his dyno chart.

Second up was 2high2aim’s GM GTR. Again, taking the cars up and down was very little hassle. After the first calibration run, Gpgtr did 2 pulls. This GTR would be the highest of GTRs with HP 479.1 @ 6241 rpm.

Up next was Juan’s E55 AMG. His car had a slight tune done as well as a modded muffler. After all was said and done, this AMG finished with either a 489 or 505 HP. I cant remember. I hope Gpgtr will post his chart.

The Evo X was next to go. We got her up on the dyno rack pretty quickly. This Evo X was slightly modded as well with an K&N air filter as well as an HKS exhaust. No tune was done to the ECU. Gpgtr did about 3 pulls on the Evo and if I can remember, it topped out at 303 hp.

Powercreator had his GTR up next. After the calibration test and a few pulls, his topped out at 460 HP. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but Powercreator’s GTR has the cold weather package. If anyone can elaborate if this has any effect please let me know !

Finally, my car went up and as u can see by the chart, after 2 pulls, it was pretty consistent with a 475 HP @ 6032 rpms. I was pretty happy with the result and cant wait to get my mods done so I can compare results.

After all was said and done, we wrapped up everything around 2:30…..about 4 hours total for about 6 cars. We weren’t in a hurry at all. In fact, we were discussing different factors regarding each pull and taking our time. The Hyper Power Dyno facility is awesome. No troubles bringing the cars up or down, the wireless computer system made it simple to configure. A great day was had by all. If anyone can add something to this or correct me, please let me know !

I hope we can do it again some day. Thanks again to Gpgtr ( Greg ) for his time and letting us use his place.

Oh…… video should be up sometime this week / weekend ! Matt is slammed at work and will have each cars videos.

The dyno sits about 15″ from the floor which makes it very easy to get under the GT-R and just strap it down without having to remove the floor pan. We manage to strap the car down in approximately 5 minutes. The removal process was quite similar. The EVO X, actually took a few more minutes longer to strap down. I guess having the dyno install above ground does seems to be an advantage.

yes that is true the dyno didnt need any panels to be removed to strap because of its height and I used 91 pump gas nothing special and during the dyno runs one time the traction control was set to Normal and the other time it was set to race…my tc was never off while it might have released a few ponies the manual said not to turn it off so i didnt because i was a little paranoid

More info of each graph and other questions answered at NAGTROC.

AutoSelect ECU tuning!

AutoSelect have been in development tuning the ECU for the R35 GT-R with the new COBB Pro Software. Right now initial testing is being done with finding the maximum safe values for those wanting a good increase in power without causing any issues. They are experimenting with different tunes for acceleration and also mentioned levels around 600ps in the future. The video below shows a 72ps gain in power showing great and safe gains but this map really focused more on improving acceleration response and avoiding the boost spike and knocking control (ignition timing delay) rather than pursuing more power.

For those of you that don’t know much about Autoselect, i would like to refere you to an interview done by Zero To Hundred. They are famous for there Yellow Shark Skyline GT-Rs and many other great projects and parts. There is no kidding around and development is simply one of the most major aspects for Autoselect.

Here are some vids of Autoselect testing the R35 GT-R. The first video is not just the R35, but many of the Autoselect projects at OKAYAMA international Circuit. The time they achived with was 1″42.73 utilizing the new custom AccessPort tune.

This next video is Autoselect prototype testing there coilovers.

AutoSelect R35 Suspension Development test on the Touge. from mindlessoath on Vimeo.

Autoselect have already made key choices of brakes and suspension, updated some additional downforce proven from previous designs and now are working on power to compliment the suspension which has been meticulously researched and tested. Lets just say if you have major power in mind, autoselect is going to be key for laying that power to the ground. Other manufactures are more focused on comfort and track compromises which is certainly a key purchase, Autoselect still offers adjustable coilovers and more compliant aftermarket bushings if comfort is a key focus.

You can look forward to see Autoselects exhaust components which are still under development and will be undergoing testing with the Cobb Pro Tuning software soon.

Finished PWJDM Rear Elevated Spoiler

108
Finaly Finished The new Password:JDM Rear Elevated Spoiler. This is quality, stength and inovation all in one peice. Its designed to be strong, designed to be very light only 4.4lbs, it has the function of the stock 3rd brake light with included instructions, and has added downforce developed by Password:JDM. The greatest feature tho, would be quality and price. When you look at this peice you can see that its as good as other well known Japanese brands that costs thosands of dollers.

By keeping the stock apperance and adjusting the layout approx. 60mm higher and 50mm farther back than stock. pitch is increased ever so slightly for just enough extra downforce without too much added drag.

This will go on sale next week IIRC it was going to cost $2500, regardless of the exact cost pre-order now! The Rear Spoiler is manufactured in DRY Carbon.

R35 DRY Carbon Fiber

This is some  Japan made  dry carbon fiber products.  These are some rather nice replacement peices for the R35 GT-R. They are just stock replacements made in Dry Carbon so they look nice and weigh almost nothing. These are very easy to install and will look very nice. The best thing about these will be the price. They are making these without a GT-R tax if you know what i mean. Contact KarBoneo Design for Pricing.

This was made special to all by a GT-R owner that goes by the name GTRRR35!

AMS Performance Prototype Exhaust components

nissan-gt-r-parts-development-ams-performance_02
AMS is practically in my back yard, i have never been there, but being in the area i have heard alot about them. They are top notch in actual development and making the best of that development to make real parts that make real performance. Here we have some new components being made for the exhaust system. Most of the quote is just a copy paste of what AMS said, its pritty much covers everything without me saying anything more. I wanted to come visit them and do an interview once it got warmer, hopefully it gets warmer faster cause these will be done pritty fast it looks like.

The off white pieces are actually made in a 3D printer we have here at the shop. After roboitically plotting the space constraints of the OEM piece we are able to take that design and see what areas we can improve upon. From there we design a new piece using CAD software. After we feel we have a good starting point we then feed that data into our rapid prototype machine to make a 3D model of the piece. If at that point we are happy with the design we then start to have it casted.

Casting pieces like this becomes vital in not only the reliability of the piece and OEM like fitment but with overall performance as well. With casting we are not limited by some of the roadblocks from custom fabrication. We can make an area as smooth or free flowing as we want.We can employ ideas and theory that are all but impossible or horribly labor intensive in making the piece by hand out of steel.

As you can see using this design we are easily able to make a unit for a customer with or without a high flow catalytic converter. This specific high flow cat we have tested up to 550 whp without losing ANY hp of that of a free flowing test pipe. Thats a huge plus for guys looking to stay under the emissions radar and still wanting improved performance. However for those that want to roll the dice and have a full catless sytem we are providing that option as well.

Downpipes will be about 8-10 weeks away.

As far as the complete system is concerned I do not want to give away too much but plans are to have a 90mm primary section going to two VERY free flowing race inspired mufflers and terminating at quad tips.

HKS Kansai Anti-Sway bars

HKS Kansai Anti-Sway bars for the R35 GT-R. Part number KSN030 for 85,000 Yen. These are cheaper than the Cobb Tuning anti-sway bars (in Japan without importing costs anyways) but dont offer as much adjustability. These Anti Roll Bars remove the unpleasant roll in the stock bars without raising the spring rates. These are better for highway driving to track driving and cornering has been much improved. Adjustable setups which are generally neccessary for track use helps adjust for your driving style.

Front Stabilizer is non adjustable but is 15% rate increase over the stock setup and 35mm diameter.

Rear Stabilizer is a two-step adjustment type and 16mm diameter. The soft setting is 67% rate increase over stock and the hard setting is 100% rate increase over stock.
